Completion of Hazelbury Bryan water main replacement
Further to our previous letter to you regarding Wessex Water’s £300,000 investment to replacing ageing water mains in Hazelbury Bryan, I am pleased to inform you that this project has been completed two weeks ahead of schedule.
As you may recall, the scheme took place in The Causeway and The Common, which were closed to through traffic between Hazelbury Bryan village and Mill End Farm, to replace pipes that were prone to bursting with new plastic pipes to ensure you have improved water quality and a more reliable supply for years to come.
Approximately 1,800 metres of pipe were replaced, mainly using largely trenchless techniques, keeping the open-cut elements of the work to a minimum as much as possible.
This project has now been completed ahead of schedule, with the road being fully reopened to through traffic from the end of Friday, 10 November 2023.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank customers and businesses for your co-operation, patience and understanding while this essential work was carried out.
The Red Barn Village Store, which took the decision to close for a short period in October before reopening during early November, is now fully accessible from both ends of The Causeway and The Common by both vehicle and on foot, as are other businesses in the area.
