SSE have contacted several households in Hazelbury Bryan regarding a planned powercut on Thursday, 6 August 2026 from 8:30 - 16:00. This only affects properties in the following postcodes: DT10 2BH, 2FY, 2DP, 2EG, 2QB, 2EF, 2QD and 2EE.
This includes our Village Hall which has the benefit of solar power and back-up battery storage. The Village Hall Committee has decided to open the hall for the duration of the power cut for the use of residents and others affected. The Village Hall has air conditioning and WiFi, and there will be facilities to recharge your mobile devices, make drinks and heat food if necessary.
We have not done this before and so have no idea how long the batteries will last but wanted to offer a safe and cool space for people affected by the power cut.
Please bring things with you to occupy yourself and help us test the Hall for its suitability for use in similar situations should they arise in future.
