Voting closed at 10 pm last night. There was a magnificent turnout of eligible voters - 47.8%, or 420 people. Of these 386 voted in favour of the Plan and just 34 voted against. This now means that the Plan forms part of the planning policies for the area used by the planning authority, currently North Dorset District Council, to determine planning applications. To its credit, NDDC has already been able to take the Plan and its policies into account in refusing recent applications at the Ferns, Partway Lane by the village hall and the Antelope for a total of nearly 60 new homes.
Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come out and vote. The high turnout, and the result, is very much appreciated by the parish council and especially those members of the Neighbourhood Plan Committee who have spent almost three long years working on the Plan. This is a great result for the village.
