Hazelbury Abuzz - save our bumblebees and other pollinators
We are a group (definitely not a committee!) of villagers encouraging the community to save our bumble bees and pollinators by providing food/shelter for them in our gardens. You can find out more here about creating a 'Nectar Cafe' for bees in your garden.
We swap ideas and successes via our Whatsapp group. Meet up occasionally, visit each other’s gardens and hold a couple of events a year. Other ideas are welcome.
We’d love you to join us! Contact Val Rubie and Janet Jones at valrubie@outlook.com or 01258 818293 to learn more.
Hazelbury’s Hedgehog Friendly Village
In October 2017, the 7 hamlets that make up the village of Hazelbury Bryan joined other Dorset villages and towns by becoming a ‘Hedgehog Friendly Village’. Working in conjunction with the Dorset Mammal Group, the status of ‘Hedgehog Friendly Village’ denotes that a number of interested local residents (Hedgehog Champions) are actively involved in helping to reverse the dramatic decline of UK hedgehog numbers.
